What is the purchase process? How do I get started?
PLEASE READ OUR PROCESSES CAREFULLY AS THEY HAVE CHANGED EFFECTIVE 05/31/2006

Pin Oak Farm provides the high level of service you need to get the Doodle puppy you want. We do this by providing the following option(s) for you to choose from:

Application Process

Pin Oak Farm prefers that our customers choose their puppy in person, and we encourage customers to visit Pin Oak Farm for an opportunity to meet us, the puppies, and their breeding parents. It also helps us to get to know our customers better. We do not choose puppies for customers, unless there are unforeseen circumstances that would warrant us to do that.

Due to the volume of applications, we now breed puppies to fill specific orders. In doing so, we require that applicants “reserve” their spot by coming to select a puppy and by sending a non-refundable deposit. The deposit does not hold a specific puppy for you, it simply reserves your spot to come and choose your puppy.

The process is as follows:

Customers can submit a Pin Oak Application online and specify particular attributes and characteristics they are looking for in a doodle puppy.

There is no commitment or obligation by completing an application. However, in order to be placed on a Reserved List, you must send in a $300 non-refundable deposit. Applications without deposits are still considered in the event there are more puppies than reservations for any particular litter. However, in order to guarantee placement on the next available reservation list, a deposit must accompany your application

All applications are acknowledged, and any questions will be answered. If there is an active litter (planned/expected/born), we will reply with current litter information, availability, status, etc.

If there are no current litters, customers will be contacted when a litter is planned, meaning the mother/female is ready to be bred. At that time, if a customer is still interested, they must send a deposit to reserve their selection spot.

IMPORTANT: Deposits may be sent at any time, and you do not have to wait until we contact you. Reminder: In order to be considered to be in a Reserved status, a deposit must accompany your emailed application. You are not placed on a reservation list until your deposit is received. Your selection position is determined in the order in which your deposit was received. Deposits must minimally be in the amount of $300.00. Deposits are non-refundable, but are transferable to other Pin Oak litters.

We communicate with customers that have submitted deposits as the pregnancy and delivery progress. You will receive updates on the puppies growth and development, and we will email photos of the litter as they grow. Customers begin to come and choose their puppies once they are 8 weeks of age. Customers come in the order in which their deposits were received. Any customer who cannot come in their scheduled sequence must make arrangements to either come earlier and make their top few selections, or forfeit their position and come as soon as they are available.

Pin Oak Farm reserves the right to choose or “reserve” puppies in the following situations only: 1) If a puppy is going to a special needs home, or is being used as a therapy dog, Pin Oak reserves the right to reserve any puppy from a litter which we feel is the best fit in that situation; 2) If a customer specifically asks us to choose the puppy for them, we will do so in the order the customer would have been scheduled to come and choose for themselves; 3) Any puppy we wish to retain for our own breeding program. Puppies pre-reserved by Pin Oak for these situations are not available for customers to choose from at their time of selection.

Puppies may go home with their new families anytime between 8-10 weeks of age. Boarding fees will be charged for any reserved puppy that remains here after 10 weeks of age.

By sending an application and deposit, you are secured a place on the list of next customers to contact. Again, we will try to fill your order within one year of the application. Many times it will not take that long, but we cannot guarantee the exact time frame.

SELECTION TESTIMONIES

Because puppies are selected in the order in which deposits are received, sometimes customers are concerned about receiving the “last pick” of the litter.  There is a huge misconception out there that the last pick is the least desirable puppy!  Nothing could be further from the truth.  Recently, I had a potential customer request the ability to meet a mini goldendoodle before they committed to purchasing one.  I connected her with two of my customers who owned mini goldendoodles, who ironically both had last picks of their subsequent litters.  I want to share with you the email communication that I had with this customer as she set up meeting these doodles, and after she met them.

Thanks so much, Jeanne.  I have set up times to meet a couple doodles already.  We are meeting Sedona on Friday and Mattingly on Sunday.  I think that will be enough to determine if my husband has a reaction, but we also have Sawyer that we may meet as well.  I will let you know his reaction to them.  We are so excited.

4/29/11

Dear Jeanne,
Thanks for keeping us updated.  This is great news as we just met Mattingly from Honey and Oliver and we loved him.  My husband had no allergic reaction so we have no doubt now that one of your pups will be coming to live with us soon and we can't wait.  Mattingly was 39 pounds and both my husband and I agreed he was a great size.  Also, I wanted to let you know that although I had put we wanted a girl puppy, after meeting Mattingly, my husband and I agreed that we don't care.  If Jenn would have let us, we would have taken Mattingly home right then, but for some reason, she didn't seem to want to let us take him:-) So just wanted to make sure that you have us down for all puppies, girl or boy, medium or little.

Also, both dogs' owners told us they were the last ones chosen and they both had such great temperaments and were equally beautiful, so it made me even more secure in the fact that any of your dogs will be wonderful for our family

Please also read this heartwarming testimony from a customer of ours in New York state, as to their puppy selection experience:

Jeanne, I have been thinking a lot about how "Our pets chose us".  The following is my conclusion:

Approaching early retirement age, my sister and I, who share a home together, decided to start our research in finding a dog, breed, gender and breeder in which to select our future family addition.  After exhaustive research, we decided on a mini Goldendoodle, a female puppy and Pin Oak Farm.  The deliberate selection of a mini Goldendoodle and Pin Oak Farm were born out of factual information and logic.  The decision of a female was emotional and based on the illogical fact that a female canine would join a family of two female humans.  Like I said, illogical.  So when it came to selection time we found ourselves the 5th customer in line for a litter of 7 pups - 3 females and 4 males.  We understood the rules of selection and Pin Oak Farm was wedded to the fairness of the process and the random choice of the 4 customers in front of us.  We in turn, were solidly committed, as illogical as it was, to only a female pup.  As selection weekend was upon us, we informed Pin Oak that we would not be traveling all the way from upstate New York to Lancaster, Pa unless there was at least one female pup.

We waited for word through Pin Oak Farm email notifications when each customer before us selected their "chosen" puppy.  The first two females were selected, leaving one female.  We felt devastated at that point.  Then the next two pups selected were males and then the phone call came that if we wanted the only female remaining, she was ours.  We were so very excited that we said yes, she is ours and we left upstate New York at 4am for the trip to Pin Oak Farm.  As we drove up the driveway, Jeanne was holding our "baby".  From the car, I could tell she was ours.  I didn't have to take one more look at the 2 remaining males, just to be sure.

As we were driving home with Nala, the name we gave our little girl, I watched her nuzzle up to my sister as I was driving and thought to myself, Nala didn't "choose" the other families because she was waiting for us.  Nala wasn't passed over as the "remaining" female puppy, she just didn't turn on the charm to be selected, because she was waiting for her chosen family!!  Pets do pick us, but in different ways.  Sometimes, they are just waiting for us to show up and aren't overlooked or left over.  Nala has been with my sister and me for about a month now and she is the most perfect dog.  I can't imagine being without her.  In fact, I think she knew how much we needed her.

Consider this:  As my sister and I were looking forward to retirement, last September 2010 my sister suffered a devastating stroke.  She is lucky to have survived and she has regained her speech and arm movement but is left with balance issues, general stamina and mental fatigue.  She was improving and then she just seemed to lose momentum and enthusiasm and depression became her constant companion.  Since Nala joined us, my sister has someone else to care for and who cares for her right back.  Nala has become my sister's "therapy dog".  Nala, although only a puppy, responds incredibly to my sister and is most gentle with her.  My sister is once again improving and has taken to Nala, even house-training her within 3 weeks. And me?  Well, Nala is the most precious and wonderful dog who ever chose a customer during the selection process.  So, if you are ever in the position of getting the "left-over" pet, remember sometimes they have just not "chosen" the humans before you and are waiting for you to show up.

Because puppies are selected in the order in which deposits are received, sometimes customers are tentative that their “pick” won’t be available, or that we won’t have exactly what they want.  Sometimes, we don’t have enough of one gender or color when it is your turn, so you will have to decide if you are negotiable on those things and wait for the next litter, or choose from the puppies remaining in the current litter.  We never make you take a puppy that you aren’t  100% pleased with!

UNRESERVED PUPPIES

Pin Oak may, on occasion, have puppies that were not previously reserved by the Application Process. This rarely happens as most puppies are reserved before they are born. If any puppy(s) remains unreserved, Pin Oak will contact our list of applicants who have not sent in deposits, to see if they are interested in the available puppy(s). If none of our applicants are in the market for a puppy at that time, the photos and bios of available puppy(s) will be placed on the website for public viewing. Customers interested in these puppies must also submit an application, contact Pin Oak immediately via email and send a deposit to hold the specific puppy. If more than one customer reserves the same puppy, the first customer to send their deposit and application will receive that puppy.

PRICES & DEPOSITS

Price change for all 2012 litters: All Doodles are $1400 + tax. ($50.00 refund upon receipt of spay/neuter verification before pups 1st birthday.)

Deposits of $300 may be sent in the form of a personal check. Deposits are non-refundable. Sending a deposit reserves your spot to come and choose a specific puppy from the next available litter. Puppies are not guaranteed within a certain timeframe, but our goal is to fill your order within one year. In the event that we receive more deposits than puppies, deposits are transferable to the next available litter.   (Deposits and prices prior to April 15, 2010 have not changed.  If you are currently reserved and have placed a deposit prior to that date, your price has not changed.)

The balance due at pick up must be cash, money order, or bank check (cashier’s or certified).

Deposits are transferable to other litters. This means that for whatever reason, if you’ve placed a deposit and now wish to transfer it to another litter, you can. There are two important details to keep in mind however. First, transferring to another litter will forfeit your selection position, and place you next in line at the time you’ve made the decision to transfer. You are not placed ahead of customers who were originally on the selection list before you. Second, the price of the litter to which you are transferring may be different than the litter from which you transferred. Mini/mediums are priced higher than standards.

Deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE!!! When you place a deposit with us, you are committing to purchasing a puppy from Pin Oak Farm, LLC.  We breed our litters and plan our upcoming litters based on deposits that are received.  I cannot refund deposits because you change your mind, or find a puppy elsewhere.  Most likely, once you have placed a deposit and been placed on our reservation listings, other customers have been turned away because a list will be “full”.

Many times customers place one deposit and have their names on multiple lists.  They are waiting for the right timeframe, gender, color, size, breed, or various other scenarios as well.  So technically, this customer’s name is taking up several spots.  If that customer wants their deposit back, it is like losing several customers at once; at some point I will have the match you have requested.  Most litters and matches can occur within a year; other times it may take slightly longer.  It just depends on how full the lists are, and how frequently we are breeding for your request.

ADOPTION OPPORTUNITIES

Occasionally, a situation arises when a buyer can no longer, in circumstances beyond their control, keep their puppy or dog. These situations may include, but are not limited to, severe illness of the buyer or family member, unemployment, relocation, divorce, etc. As a breeder and seller of companions, I truly hope that each buyer has a life-long commitment and relationship with their dog, but I realize sometimes things just cannot be helped.

In this situation, I would like to help place the puppy/dog in a loving home to help ease the situation for my customers. I cannot guarantee that I can find a home, but I’d like to offer this service if the need arises. I have many contacts with people looking for doodles, and many are open to adoption. Some folks also prefer an adult dog, so they don’t have to go through the puppy stage.

Since I’ve been in business, I have learned that doodle buyers (and potentially “dog-people” in general) are quick to help one another, and always have room in their hearts for situations like this. I recently had this scenario arise, and was amazed at the amount of responses I had from my customers who were willing to consider adopting another dog. I have the best customers in the word!

If you would be interested in adopting a puppy/dog in the event one becomes available due to the situations listed above, please fill out an application and let me know of your interest. Include in your email your name, phone number, and best time to reach you. This way I can keep your information on file, and have it ready for anyone who is in a difficult situation.
